Made from earthenware clay, these decorative dishes are inspired by many a choppy sea swim interrupted by a surprisingcollision with a jellyfish. These jellies are enjoying the wavy waters of the Gower coastline. Each dish is handcrafted from a piece of clay. Once the dish is shaped, underglazes are hand painted onto each one. The jellyfish and waves are then carved freehand into the soft clay using a special tool in a process known as ‘sgraffito’ (Italian for ‘scratch.’). Once dry, a clear matt glaze is applied and the bowls go into the kiln for a final firing.
Due to the freehand carving of these dishes, there will be slight variations in the design. Each piece is truly unique.
